Hi! On Tuesday we left Bergen around 9 in the morning and headed to Lom where we had booked our hotel for the night. We decided to make the return trip in two days, with 5:30 hours of driving each day so that it wouldn't be too long of a trip for Leander.
The weather was perfect for driving: gray sky, no rain and 15℃ - not too cold or warm. Since two years ago we drove from Trondheim to Bergen through the coastal road, we decided this time we'd take the inland road which is also faster. Contrary to my expectations the inland road is just as beautiful as the coastal route!
This is a picture from Voss. There were river views pretty much throughout the whole way. It was gorgeous!
We arrived to the Lærdal tunnel which is 24,5 km long making it the longest tunnel in the whole world. Throughout the tunnel there are three different parties of blue light to make the journey more appealing. It is quite enjoyable.
We then stopped at Årdal for some lunch. I had a really nice cortado at Årdal. Not everywhere in Norway they know how to make a proper cortado even though it's in the menu. This bakery was however an exception and the cortado was Eva-approved.
After our stop we headed towards the "Tindevegen" which is the inland equivalent to the "Trollstigen". It goes from Årdal to Turtagrø and the whole way is 32 km long. It surrounds the Jotunheimen National Park with Norway's highest peak Galhøpiggen and its 2 469 m over the sea level. This was by far the nicest part of the trip and with way less visitors than Trollstigen, which means you actually get to stop and take pictures without all the tourist buses everywhere.
About half an hour prior to arriving to our hotel we drove by this curious place and we had to stop to check it out. The Elveseter Hotel is a historical farm from 1870 which also houses the Saga column representing Norway's history from the Battle of Hafrsfjord until the Constitution in Eidsvoll.
