Today is day ten after due date and nothing has happened. Rune and I are both very impatient at this point, but the little one is not showing any signs of wanting to come out and meet us. So tomorrow the doctors at the hospital will have to make him want to come out. I had been joking about writing him an eviction note, but all jokes aside... tomorrow he is being "evicted" for real, by the doctors. And I am excited!
However, an induced birth is not ideal. It increases the risks of an emergency cesarean, the use of suction vacuum or the use of pliers. This induction often starts with the midwife puncturing the fetal membrane, which is non-painful, so that the water breaks. If contractions don't start within the hour, oxytocin - a contraction-starting hormone - is injected into the blood. Ideally, the contractions should start naturally, and then the delivery would be considered natural, but the use of oxytocin is what would make it induced. Often the oxytocin-induced contractions are very intense and painful, but also make for a quicker delivery. We'll see how that goes. The most important now is that everything turns out fine.
So tomorrow 9 am we'll be at the hospital hopefully welcoming our son and being able to give all of you some good news! ❤️ Wish us luck!
